SATA Hard Drive Suddenly Corrupted

I have a new Windows XP Powered PC (almost one month old). I’m a freelance web designer and used this computer for storing my projects and clients information. It was working very well.

Yesterday I came from market and started checking mails as it is my daily routine. While checking the mails, my internet explorer suddenly stopped responding and the computer hanged. I stopped myself to do anything. After few minutes I got a strange error message in explorer.exe file that I never come across before.

I restarted my computer and while booting I got a blue screen with an error message “Read error from disk, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart”. The error message was repeated again and again whenever I tried to start my computer. I had option to reinstall windows XP but I failed in it also because it only recognized an old XP installation of my secondary SATA hard drive working as Logical Drive D.

I unplugged my secondary hard drive and attempted to install XP on it by attaching to other computer and it shown that I have a 298 GB drive with 298 GB free space, no file system detected or anything. I was much tensioned as I lost all my information stored on the drive that also contains a project that was almost completed.

I asked my friend in this regards who is hardware engineer. He told me that it’s not a hardware fault. The problem is occurred due to file system corruption and it formatted your drive. He suggested me to search on internet to find out any software that can help me in recovering my lost data.

I searched on net and found software Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery. I saw on the website that this software supports recovery from Windows XP operating system installed on SATA hard drive. I installed the demo version of the software. Advanced searching algorithms of the software searched all the lost data from my SATA hard drive and displayed in tree format. I found that all lost data were recoverable.

I tried to save the data using “Recover All Files” icon displayed in the icon bar of the software. It displayed a message that I have to purchase the serial key of the software to activate it and save the data. I opened the company’s website and purchased the serial key of the software. In this way I recovered all my precious data with the help of Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery software.
